Birding binoculars are binoculars made especially for such purpose. Most optics store will have a section for binoculars used exclusively for bird watching. Most bird watchers look for a good quality pair of binoculars which are easy to focus and light to carry (since such operation is mostly a trekking operation and most birdwatchers would not want to lug colse to heavy equipment). Some of the basic things to look at in birding binoculars are its magnification, objective lens diameter, and exit pupil.

Magnification and Objective Lens Diameter

Binoculars are categorized by their magnification and objective lens diameter. A binocular specification is written as: magnification x objective lens diameter. Example: a 7x35s binocular will have a magnification power of 7 and a 35 mm objective lens diameter. This means the binocular can see objects 7 times closer and has a lens size of 35 mm. Magnification is prominent in order to see far away objects while lens size determines the estimate of light that enters your binoculars. A bigger lens means a brighter and more detailed image.

Exit pupil

This is the diameter of light visible straight through the eyepiece and is measured in millimeters. The exit pupil is thought about by dividing the binoculars' objective lens diameter by its magnification power. In the above example, a 7x35s binocular will have an exit pupil of 5mm.
