ARSENAL SGL21/SGL31: "The AK Gold Standard Pt 1" by Nutnfancy

ARSENAL SGL21/SGL31: "The AK Gold Standard Pt 1" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 31.60 Mins.

The Arsenal AKs got me off the fence. I have been around AKs for many years but none moved me to purchase. Enter the Arsenal SGL 21 and SGL31, featuring close adherence to AK-74N specifications. Both are quality weapons that can motivate and excite the AK enthusiast. Close inspection of an Arsenal AK could very well turn you into a fan too. The Arsenal formula works on several levels for me: dogged adherence to Russian military technology, high attention to detail, completely new and unused components, full 922r compliancy with quality US Arsenal-produced parts, NATO length stocks sets available in great colors (Black, OD, Plum, Tan avail), reasonable pricing, and a light carry weight. These Arsenals are a collaborative effort between the Legion custom shop of the Izhmash AK factory in the City of Izhesk, Udmurt Republic, Russian. They arrive to the Arsenal factory as Saiga sporting rifles and then are restored to Russian military form. There are others that do this but Arsenal is my favorite so far because of the value achieved. Once the restoration is complete, the resulting SGL is an impressive piece with authentic, quality features that add interest, improve shootability, and reliability: an AK-74 style muzzle brake on 24x1.5mm RH threading, properly placed Russian markings to include Izmash factory logo (upward arrow in triangle) and no extraneous commercial markings, correct AK front sight and 90º AK gas block (with vents), bayonet and accessory lugs, correct AK gas ...

"Mosin-Nagant: The $100 .30-06" by Nutnfancy

"Mosin-Nagant: The 0 .30-06" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 49.93 Mins.

For the 0 or so you can pay for a rack grade Mosin-Nagant, it is a superb centerfire rifle. Proven the world over in combat since the turn of the century (and before!) the venerable 91/30 Mosin-Nagant has won many fans for this amazing high value. Coupled with currently available and high quality 7.63mmx54R European surplus ammunition, the combination provides amazing levels of fun, utility, and training without putting you in the poor house. This ammo, usually a 147 gr LPS load in copper-washed steel cases with Berdan priming, is corrosive but it shot accurately and reliably in the 2 yrs of testing in TNP. Cleaning the rifle after corrosive ammo is simple and I recommend Hoppes #9 for the task. POUs on the Mosin include "fun gun," project gun, collectible, affordable WROL option, and hunting rifle...all discussed in the vid. With over 17.5 million Mosin-Nagants produced and the market having been flooded for decades with surplus rifles, most having been re-arsenaled and changed from their original forms, it is unlikely a run of the mill Mosin will gain in value. Therefore, as discussed, it's ok to modify certain plentiful versions for greater enjoyment. Two such rifles are shown and discussed in detail in the video. But I think most folks are wise to buy a Mosin and just keep in stock so as to preserve its ECONOMY. Running the Mosin 91/30 in tactical fashion as shown is a rush and will challenge your marksmanship skill. And the ability to master this somewhat crude ...

"Scope Your Mosin!: The Brass Stacker mount" by Nutnfancy

"Scope Your Mosin!: The Brass Stacker mount" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 22.15 Mins.

Usually you'll be shooting 6" groups or so with your Mosin-Nagant at 100 yards, maybe worse. While there are some upsides to the Mosin's iron sights (discussed), there's some significant downsides too: usually you can't zero them to point of aim (need taller front sight), they lack precision, and they're no good in low light. Enter the best mount I've found for the Mosins so far, the Brass Stacker scout mount. It's 100% US made CNC milled steel from a small private company. It attaches strongly as shown with the cross bolts and installation is usually pretty straightforward. Use blue locktite on those mini nuts and cut off excess length and mill the bolts clean. It saddles the rear sight block and allows use of the iron sights as well. If you want to remove it, you can easily return your beloved Mosin to its stock configuration as well. Use a pistol scope like the excellent and high value Weaver 2.5x8x28mm #849429 pistol scope and watch your groups tighten up. With 22-75 LPS and 10-80 Yugo ammo we got almost 1 MOA groupings (shown) with this mount and scope...incredible. Upsides include this higher precision, no mount shifting (when mounted and used as indicated), moderate cost for such a high quality product ( now), light weight, improved low light capabilities, and increased fun levels (it's funner to hit what you're shooting at!). The only notable downside is the higher cheek weld required. Until I find something better (unlikely), TNP will be running these Brass ...

"Ruger American Rifle: Winning Features" by Nutnfancy

"Ruger American Rifle: Winning Features" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 46.95 Mins.

As we've seen from Ruger before, this is not the first gun to the party but it might be one of the best. The Ruger American Rifle wears an in your face name, perhaps suggesting that if you don't like it you're Un-American! Maybe the Ruger Allied would be a better name as it serves as a direct counter point to the Savage Axis (and for that matter the Marlin X7 series). We actually had a hard time telling the gun apart from the Savage Axis (keeping the stickers on and a different scope helped). But the American delivers the important stuff and packs in tons of value to its price level. Its 6 lbs 4 oz naked weight (7 lbs 7 oz usually with scope and mounts) makes it a good mountain rifle or all around hunting choice. Other POUs might include Survival Rifle and Recreational (discussed in video). Similar to the X7 and Axis, the American uses steel bedding block to lock the gun into a plastic stock. This results in a free floated barrel that showed excellent accuracy for the type. Contrary to many reports though, this hammer forged 22" tube, the American could not deliver MOA accuracy even with careful, locked down shooting and premium ammuntion (shown). But accuracy is still excellent for its type and it equaled the accuracy of its direct competition and actually even that of heavier and more expensive bolt guns. The sporter weight barrel is designed for 1 to 4 shots then a cool down. However is 450 yard tactical shooting and on the range we ran it hard and without break in ...

"Savage Mark II .22: Rat Rifle" by Nutnfancy

"Savage Mark II .22: Rat Rifle" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 32.80 Mins.

Quiet, accurate, and deadly... at least on rats and other vermin. The Savage Mark II FV-SR is the perfect "Rat Jihad" rifle. It's short, light, cycles quickly for a bolt gun, has an awesome trigger, and comes with a threaded muzzle for suppressor. One example shown here is camouflaged in condensed Varicam (Multicam-like) pattern, making it even more stealthy in many environments. Contact www.missionspeccamo.com for that service, use code nutnfancy. As a pest control rifle, the Savage Mark II is an excellent choice. Tested for months in TNP were two FV-SRd and a Mark II G model. Some reliability problems surfaced early with a magazine whose sides separated. But mostly they ran very reliably and shot with excellent accuracy, especially the Aguila Super Extra Subsonic load (shown). Shot from 20 to 100 yards, the Savage Mark II accuracy seemed to keep pace with all other .22 rifles tested so far. Many targets are shown with many loads to include Remington Subsonic, Eley Prime Match, Federal Bulk, Aguila, and CCI Min-Mags. Bolt manipulation is smooth, the adjustable 3 lb AccuTrigger is excellent (watch it for side disengagement though, discussed), the safety perfectly situated, the LOP well sized, and the molded in checkering on the synthetic stock works. The magazine and its retention system works but I prefer that found on the Marlin XT rifles for reason discussed. This are mid-priced .22 bolt action rifles made in Canada and for the most part the quality is excellent: hard ...

3 of 4, Kel-Tec RFB vs .308 Battle Rifles: "Have No Fear" by Nutnfancy

3 of 4, Kel-Tec RFB vs .308 Battle Rifles: "Have No Fear" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 46.45 Mins.

Perhaps jinxed by the crew bragging how reliable it was, the RFB brings a surprise here. I do not prefer its choice of FAL mags and I discuss why. But despite differences in zeros on the gun, the RFB manages to turn in 41 point run tie with both PFIDude and Nutnfancy. However it will never catch up with the FN 17S and its 54 pts in the Nutnfancy Run #1. Granted many variables are at play and that makes it more entertaining and interesting. After a full strip-down and lubrication, we remain hopeful on the Kel-Tec PMR-30 runs as well. We love its lightweight, ergos, sights, mag capacity, and price. We however are not loving its reliability. The more powerful 5.7x28mm FN Five-Seven does dominate here but as we mention but it is an expensive ride and practicing with it could break the bank. PFIDAD hangs tough in the many runs on "Sledge Road" as does Chad and fun continues as do a "little bit of this and a little bit of that along the way."///////////Music: Licensed to TNP from Jason Shaw///////////////// We attribute the RFB's failures to feed to the magazine from we could gather. Chad says "A new mag for the gun is the easiest fix to your gun ever."

"Arctic Ops: Mosin-Nagant 91/30" by Nutnfancy

"Arctic Ops: Mosin-Nagant 91/30" by Nutnfancy Video Clips. Duration : 31.45 Mins.

Practical cold weather testing of the Mosin-Nagan 91/30. With friend Cr0cket20, we launch out into the snow for engagements on Actiontarget.com steel plates to see what this rifle can do in these conditions. Temps ranged from 20ºF down to 15ºF later on. This particular Mosin-Nagant 1927 model wears my DuraCoat job in "Tactical Grey Green" (perfect color for the gun) and a Millet 1" red dot sight in a S&K brand scope base mounting in the rear sight area. In low light and overall speed this is a superior set up to the iron sights of the Mosin as proven in testing. The S&K mount has proven 100% stable in extensive testing as well (install carefully with blue Loc-Tite). In this outing, this Mosin 91/30 excels in the cold and the snow and shows that its battle-born pedigree still holds up. But be careful how you load those shells: it can experience rim lock if the cartridges are not loaded in forward stacking fashion, despite the "interrupter" in the magazine. This has happened at every stage of TNP testing. Firing the Mosin fast and accurately takes commitment and the user needs to cycle the bolt with authority and conviction. Short stroking the bolt can cause hangups as well. The trigger is pretty much awful but a good shooter can work through it and achieve remarkable accuracy. Our targets here range out to 175 yards, an approximately man-sized IPSC plate. The Mosin is not however a modern bolt action design and more modern offerings from Marlin, Savage, Ruger, and ...

Ruger Mini-14 Tactical: "Arrival of the Underdog" by Nutnfancy

Ruger Mini-14 Tactical: "Arrival of the Underdog" by Nutnfancy Tube. Duration : 50.03 Mins.

It's built like a tank and costs around 0 in 2010. That's the high value of the now-improved Mini-14 "Tactical" offers. Model #5847 is reviewed here but its representative of the whole Ruger Mini-14 Tactical and Ranch rifle lineup. Some will discount the Mini as a viable tactical choice, saying that it is wildly inaccurate and cannot be depended upon for hard use. The accuracy criticisms held some truth as the older Mini-14s (and their poor quality, pencil-thin barrels) often had heat-stringing issues and about 4-7 MOA accuracy (with rack-grade ammunition). In this thorough Nutnfancy review of Mini-14 Tactical model (and NRA Model providing more data points), I cut through this chaff and attempt to get to the truth. Fact is, with factory Ruger mags or other high quality options (discussed), the fixed-piston Mini-14 is has been a durable and ultra-reliable rifle (when used with good mags), proven in my own shooting since 1983. Based on the battle-proven M1 Garand action, the rotating open bolt design is tolerant of mud, water, and dust and keeps shucking, often when other gun systems have shut down in tough conditions. But a main focus of this review is not the long-established reliability but the improvements made on the 580 Series of Minis since 2004, particularly BARREL IMPROVEMENTS. In shooting hundreds and hundreds of rounds through the two newer Mini-14s shown, indeed the gun showed itself to be superior to its inaccurate predecessors. With PMC 55 gr FMJ ammuntion ...
